October 30th - November 6th
Astrologically, this is a relatively quiet week for major aspects between planets. Most significantly, however, is Mars stationing retrograde on Sunday morning at 25° Gemini. As was mentioned in a previous post, Mars typically remains in each sign of the zodiac for approximately 45 days, but when it goes retrograde every two years, it can stay in the same sign for over seven months! This is what is happening now with Mars in Gemini.
Mars entered Gemini on August 20, 2022 and will remain in Gemini until March 25, 2023, due to its retrograde phenomenon. It is retrograde from this Sunday, October 30th until January 12, 2023.
All planetary retrograde experiences are a time of re’s: reflect, rethink, redo, remember, reminisce, etc. When Mars is retrograde, we need to make time to reflect upon previous important actions we took, and initiatives we set out to accomplish but maybe need to rethink, along with reactions we expressed that need to be understood so we don’t react the same way again going forward.
So much of this transit of Mars through Gemini is about how we communicate. Particularly how we may sometimes express ourselves a little too aggressively. Perhaps we forcefully try to get people to agree with us. Or maybe we think we always have the right answer and are shunning the opinions of others. This is a hot-headed placement for Mars, because Mars usually wants his way (or the highway), and in Gemini you’re going to hear all about it.
During the next two months especially, we need to take a hard look at how we speak to people, especially the ones we love. Often the best course of action is to not speak, but to learn to listen more. Be an aggressive listener if you are going to be aggressive about anything! Most importantly, be aware of HOW you sound when you speak. What is your tone?
Moon is in Capricorn on Sunday approaching Pluto. When she reaches Pluto early Monday morning (5:22am EDT) we will likely be feeling the weight of the struggles we have had to face over the past few years. These difficult memories are reflections that enable us to process the experiences more thoroughly. Growth comes through our emotional body and the time we spend processing the experiences we go through in life.
When Moon transits Pluto, we harken, often quite reluctantly, back to loss, death, and rejection, as well secrets, lies, and manipulative behaviors. It can be a depressing period of time, but it doesn’t have to be.
The beauty of Pluto, ruler of the underworld, is that we always come back out into the light a revitalized, wiser, and more aware person. The difficulties in life teach us many things about who we are, why we are here, and how to be a better person. Take heart that any losses, deaths, lies, or manipulations have emboldened you and braced you to be capable of tackling more than you could before. You are more aware of how manipulations take hold. You recognize the finiteness of life through loss and death, and this helps you appreciate and cherish life’s sacred moments more. This is a wonderful time to tell those you love how you feel about them.
As Moon transits into Aquarius on Monday afternoon, we can harness the challenges of its transit through Capricorn and past Pluto by opening up to inspirational ideas and setting the bar higher in pursuit of our own unique accomplishments. As Moon passes Saturn in Aquarius on Tuesday afternoon there may seem to be a brush with boundaries, authorities, or just the feeling that our grand ideas and visions may not be accepted or approved. What is asked of us is that we refine those ideas and ground them so they can manifest with a robust structure.
Friday afternoon finds Moon in Pisces squaring Mars while sandwiched between Neptune and Jupiter. This is a potent, albeit brief, transit that we all should reflect upon in the moment. How can we honor our spiritual path with dignity and grace if we don’t pay attention to how we react or how we sound when we speak to people?
