October 8-14, 2023
This is a pivotal week of many shifts, including a Solar Eclipse in Libra on Saturday. What we take with us as we pick and choose our way through life determines the clarity and sanity of our days. When we stop to clean up our messes, the path is more clear. When we neglect those messes, we must contend with the swamps of our own undoing. This is a week of getting the houses of our lives in order and cleaning out the corners of our relationships. If we keep on the path of nurturing those relationships we can avoid any potential dissolution that may be triggered by Saturday’s eclipse.

Moon in Leo square Jupiter in Taurus
Today’s transits can remind us just how transformative our daily lives can be. There are shifts that are begging to come forth, but there are also calls for steadfast adhesion to our principles of sustainability and sensibility. What can jar us the most is what surfaces from cesspools beneath our awareness. There are realms behind doors we either choose to keep closed or don’t even know exist, and as these doors creak open from time to time, revelations can leap out at us and drown us in new challenges to face.
The work is never finished when it comes to noticing the finer weaves that hold the blanket of our lives together. Those fine weaves are the weaves in the threads that are woven, and the weaves of those weaves are the fibers that are essentially the entire blanket itself. The analogy, if not obvious, is that we will always discover parts of ourselves that were tossed in the shadows or swept under the rug. Today may be the day the lights come on and the rug is taken out to be beaten. Whatever we find needs to be addressed, because if we do not address it and make ample strides to remedy the unresolved issues, it will impart unnecessary and unforeseen turmoil in our relationships and personal lives.
We are cleaning out the basement, garage, and attics of our lives, hoping to find wonderful things we forgot about, but likely to also find terrible things we also forgot about. The joy, harmony, and beauty we wish to surround ourselves with each day depends upon how well we manage these treks through the underworld of our lives. Venus in Virgo wants us to clean it all up and make it look beautiful, smell divine, taste delicious, sound rapturous, and feel orgasmic.

Moon in Leo trine Chiron in Aries
Moon in Leo square Uranus in Taurus
Sometimes the tension we face when planets and luminaries square and oppose one another is eventually sorted out when they aspect other celestial bodies more harmoniously (trines and sextiles). This is because the tension is released and the dynamics can flow more freely. Today’s Moon-Chiron trine might ignite some revelatory awakenings within our psyches and emotions that were not ready to be released and set free until now. The pains and woes that may have succumbed us for however long can be brought into the light of day to face the music we didn’t realize we already have the lyrics for. And their reunion can bring so much magic and healing to ourselves and others if we know just what to do with it all.
We may experience an uptick in amperage as the day carries on that creates tension between our desires for fun and our need for diligent attentiveness to improve our means of sustaining our lifestyle. Can we have our cake and eat it, too? It depends upon whether or not we are maintaining a healthy balance between protecting our principle and enjoying life. Too much of one over the other can severely disrupt the harmony we seek.

*Pluto stations direct in Capricorn*
The ongoing improvements we are hopefully always making in our lives can be exhausting, but the long-term value of putting forth the effort rewards us aplenty. How can we purify the ills of our past without dismantling the foundations we have spent years building? While those foundations may seem indistinct and hidden from direct view, they hold essential elements that allow us the capacity to function, survive, and feel our way like the day before.
The rain of chaos that may have seemingly been flooding our lives lately is not necessarily letting up anytime soon, but our faculties to withstand and navigate it all is improving. Our appreciation for and understanding of optimum management of our lives is upon us today. All the work needed to manifest order, symmetry, synchronicity, and harmony is more and more recognized as necessary, even to the point of finding joy in doing so.
Pluto’s virtual stillness, which has been ongoing for a few weeks now, and will remain so for a few more, can impart feelings of endless loss, because that is its lesson to us. All things must pass away. Sometimes we need death for growth; a composting of souls and experiences for more a rich, luscious, and bountiful life. So, fear not the agonies of loss and death, because they bring forth new life that we never imagined could be so vibrant and exquisite. We just have to hold on to the sanity that is always present in the seas, trees, winds, and mountains.

Sun in Libra opposite Chiron in Aries
Moon in Virgo trine Jupiter in Taurus
How do we address, and how often do we address, the painful relationships we have been through? The painful relationships we are still in? The beautiful relationships we are in that are still wracked with pain from time to time? Basically, how well and often do we embrace the challenge of handling the painful aspects of our everyday relationships with others? Do we talk about it with them? Can we talk about it calmly? Can we listen intently with compassion and understanding? These lessons are the hue of today. We must address them if our relationships are to not only improve, but sustain themselves into the foreseeable future. When vulnerability is not met with compassion, the winds of change blow strong against us.
Helping to dispel the anxiety of our woes is a healthy dose of focused determination to make our days function more efficiently and abundantly. The tasks that are on our list can be accomplished with ease today if we set aside the emotional dramas that might be lurking in the periphery. There are numerous shifts occurring all around us, but holding our course in the name of clarity, sanity, and beauty can keep us grounded and functional through the rough seas otherwise blowing us asunder.

*Mars ingresses Scorpio*
Moon in Virgo trine Uranus in Taurus
Moon in Virgo opposite Neptune in Pisces
Moon in Virgo trine Pluto in Capricorn
With both Venus and Mars ingressing new signs this week, we might feel subtle, or not so subtle, shifts in our relationships. There is a sense of cleaning up the corners we missed over the years. This deep cleaning might expose some painful secrets we were not expecting, but giving those secrets the chance to sit with us and share their story is another rung on the ladder we must climb to get to that great sky depot. Venus in Virgo and Mars in Scorpio is no easy task, but what is born from them is an expansive abundance of perspective and enlightenment. We just have to hold on to the value of love in the process.
Moon’s ongoing aspects to the outer invisible planets today help reiterate our need to maintain sure footing and a steady hand if we are going to thrive the way we want to. We can call it mental hygiene or spiritual hygiene, but ultimately it is life hygiene. Without sounding crass, we must clean up our messes, straighten the furniture, wash the floors, and dust the windows, among myriad other things, if we are going to proceed the best we truly can.

Mars in Scorpio trine Saturn in Pisces
This sole aspect today can help us recognize how the deep waters that hide all the shipwrecks in our lives dissolves them over time to the point where they are indiscernible from their days of glory. As often as we may seek to uncover secrets or painful truths of our past or someone else’s, eventually those all need to decay and decompose, even if not in our lifetime.
The lesson is that we must focus on what we are building and what we are building upon. If the remnants of whatever held our lives together long ago, or even recently, do not contain the nutrients necessary to grow what we are planting, we must allow it to decompose if we want abundance in the garden of our future. The secrets and plots that might be hiding behind the trees in the forests of our lives can sometimes pull us down into the clay if we are not mindful of whether or not they are worth facing. Where are our power struggles? They can likely surface today, so we would do well to keep our silly egos in check!

Moon conjunct Mercury in Libra
*Solar Eclipse (New Moon) at 21° Libra (1:55pm EDT)*
Mercury in Libra opposite Chiron in Aries
As Moon eases toward its rebirth this afternoon, it first meets with the trickster for advice on how to navigate the complex winds of relating. It is a sacred day to spend time relating to others and noticing the similarities and differences between us. How we get along, how we don’t, how awkward we feel around some, but not around others. The magic of WE is upon us. The magic of listening, the magic of opening our hearts to the value of what others have to share with us, the magic of the inevitability that everyone has something valuable to share with someone else. How do we relate? Can we relate? This is what we are striving for in these divisive times.
Unfortunately or not, solar eclipses in the sign of Libra can end relationships and start new ones. While today is the eclipse, the effects of eclipses extend out weeks and months ahead and behind their actuality, which means relationships that have been struggling or dissolving lately may not survive the tenure of this eclipse’s effects. This of course is not true for all relationships, it is simply a potential influence from eclipses, especially in Libra.
These paths we follow, or choose not to, determine the fate of our future, so with bated breath I write these words. When someone special enters our life when we least expect it, we feel excited and redeemed in many ways, as if a veil has been lifted allowing us to see clearly again. The journey through relationships is never plain and simple, however. We must strategically search deep within to find whether or not the path we think we want to choose is the path we should choose. Regardless, our experience through this eclipse season (lunar eclipse on Oct 28th) is bound to bring new things to light that we might see more clearly the road that lies before us.
Never a dull moment around the ecliptic! We must remember how valuable it is to look ahead more often. So frequently we look back and wish we had made different choices, but we are always standing on the threshold of our future that lies outstretched further than our eyes can see. The journey from here to there is bound to be better if we employ the lessons we picked up along the way to where we are now. And while we will never discover every lesson there is to learn, surely there are more than enough sleeping in our wings that can help us open them to soar up where we belong. May the beauty of all our healthy relations be recognized and shown gratitude. This is how we unite the divisions society imposes upon us.
