Full Moon, Passion, Intention, & Ignition 🌕

September 24-30, 2023

This week brings reminders of our New Moon intentions from September 14th and how we have hopefully caught up with them to see them through. Monday’s Mercurial magic can inspire tremendous productivity if we can set aside the emotional tides that tend to ebb and flow through our lives, and this carries through into Tuesday as Moon transits emotionally detached Aquarius. Friday’s Full Moon in Aries strikes the relational chord of unification, striving at once for independence and for unity, as Sun shines its golden Libran beams onto Moon in Aries. We should be careful to not allow overwhelm existentially cripple us, as these transits that speak of this are fleeting. Instead, finding lessons within those moments will treat us much better than trying to understand the why’s of everything.

Moon in Capricorn square its Nodes
Moon in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces
Mars in Libra opposite Chiron in Aries
Moon conjunct Pluto in Capricorn

How are we coming along with our New Moon intentions from September 14th? Have we gained greater perspective about who we have been and who we are becoming? The achievements we have accomplished have laid a foundation for what is lying in wait around the next corner. If we pause to reflect upon this, we are sure to recognize its truth. We must be confident that everything we have been through has led up to this day for the purpose of our soul’s growth and the expansion of our consciousness.

The charge of influences today speak of the realities, truths, and traumas we must face if we are to progress forward with compassion, transparency, and commitment. Our relationships can feel stressed if any of these elements are lacking, so working through them in the order noted is probably the best recipe for healing. If we do not cultivate and exercise compassion, our partner is not going to feel comfortable sharing everything with us, which can threaten sincere commitment to the relationship.

Hopefully there are no feisty cats in the bag that need to come out to play, but if there are, we must understand that all of us either have cats in our bag or have had cats in our bag. This recognition is the first step to empathizing and cultivating the compassion necessary to welcome greater transparency moving forward.

Mercury in Virgo trine Jupiter in Taurus
Moon in Aquarius square Jupiter in Taurus

Today is a high-functioning day that can bring significant progress toward our personal goals of greater sustainability and financial security. We are encouraged by the optimum functionality of our organizational and managerial skills and the straightforward approach that seems to naturally fall in place for us. We can see the work that needs to be done, not get too entangled in emotional distractions, and envision the opportunities that are outstretched ahead of us. While opportunities often involve some level of risk, if we carefully analyze all components of our circumstances, we develop a clear perspective of possible outcomes. Today imbues us with this capacity.

The Aquarius Moon helps us detach from emotional issues that bog us down and keep us from focusing on the big picture. Instead of perceiving its square to Jupiter as a detriment, we would be better off perceiving it as a challenge that encourages us to face the stagnation and fears of change to raise our bar a little higher in the name of progress and opportunity. Change and growth don’t have to be depressing or scary. They can be invigorating and exciting. It is all rooted in our attitude and determination.

Moon in Aquarius trine Mars in Libra
Moon in Aquarius opposite Venus in Leo
Moon in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus

While Moon’s monthly transit through Aquarius often creates some level of emotional detachment to enable Saturnian progress to be made, when it aspects the inner relational planets of Mars and Venus, we are inevitably going to experience its version of emotional shenanigans to some extent. This means we might find ourselves in push-pull scenarios today, at once torn between getting emotionally distraught or agitated, and stepping away to maintain a clearer perspective on the pressing matters at hand.

This is not to say that we cannot make ample strides in enriching and enhancing our relationships with others today, because we can. We just have to be mindful that our views are not the only views worth acknowledging. When we work together as a team to make it all function to its greatest capacity, this is where true progress manifests. And today offers an opportunity to harness that capacity if we understand just how enlightening and unique such Aquarian aspects can be. There is always progress to be made, and embracing the electrifying charges of an Aquarius Moon’s aspects to the personal planets and its own ruler is no day to disregard, whatsoever.

Mercury in Virgo quincunx Chiron in Aries
Moon in Pisces sextile Jupiter in Taurus

Oftentimes daily astrological delineations can seem monotonous and redundant. This is primarily because Moon’s monthly transit through all the signs of the zodiac ends up aspecting all the planets multiple times, albeit different aspects each time. But when planets make aspects to other planets, there is usually a call for meticulous delineation.

Today’s quincunx (150° apart) between Mercury and Chiron, while a debatably minor aspect, combines the rigorous diligence of methodical processes with an unabashed and brazen instinctual drive for one’s principles. These are clearly contrasting and juxtaposing approaches, which is what this aspect represents. In this line of understanding, we can see how today could bring some confusion or misunderstandings to our trauma and suffering while trying to make sense of it. On one hand we want to scream our pains to the world, while on the other hand we want to sit down and analyze it until we are blue in the face. The lesson here is to learn from these opposing approaches and understand the value and importance of both.

Because we are bound to feel the feels of our feelings today, we may be less inclined to hyper-analyze any of our traumas, instead opting to voice them in hopes of them not falling on analytical ears. Whatever the case, planning for some relaxation and comfort as the evening sets in can help preserve what many of us call self-care. Without disregarding our trauma and pain, we can at least help alleviate some of its infliction upon us by escaping for a walk in the woods, a friend’s house, or a trip to the sea.

Moon in Pisces sextile Uranus in Taurus
Moon conjunct Neptune in Pisces
Moon in Pisces sextile Pluto in Capricorn

The dreamy, wayward, balsamic Pisces Moon progresses through aspecting the outer planets in order today, giving us an inevitably transpersonal experience. But because Moon is aspecting them, it will affect our internal processing and invoke how we identify with these transpersonal influences in our lives.

How does our spirit relate to the detached and material world of progress and technology? Do we loathe it? Do we embrace it? Do we feel guilty for finding pleasure in it? Are we angry at how it disassociates us from the quintessence of existence? These are the subtle thoughts and feelings that are likely to be conjured up today from the Moon-Uranus sextile.

Why can’t we all just get along? Why has the world not come to its senses and learned from its past that the only way we can make true progress is if we unite and become one peaceful and loving global community? Why should we have to live with these asinine realities that we did not ask for? These are the existential challenges of Moon’s monthly reunion with Neptune in Pisces, especially in its balsamic phase.

And finally, we find ourselves face-to-face with the realistic, pragmatic, and often petrifying inevitabilities of our deep inner relationship to Pluto in Capricorn; the death, loss, defeats, and falls. Where are we supposed to go from here? How do we get there? Maybe we should be less concerned about the deep unreal and go back home to face the music. The struggle can be real, so bear that in mind when relating to others today.

May we all find solace in knowing these transits are fleeting and can teach us myriad lessons about the nature of our spiritual aspirations and perspectives. Integrating them is the work we need to do in order to not get lost in the overwhelm of existence.

*Full Moon at 6° Aries at 5:57am EDT*
Venus in Leo square Uranus in Taurus

Today’s Full Moon in Aries strikes the inner, relational chord of unification. With Moon’s Aries light reflecting Sun’s Libra light, we may be seeking to understand how to relate to one another better without losing our patience with them. How are we different? How are we the same? Is it possible for us to find freedom in relationships? Do our futures coincide with each other’s? Aries Full Moons can also be wracked with angst and fierce calls for independence, sometimes shunning others in the name of liberation and individuated identification. We must be careful not to feed into the warring nature of Aries’s namesake, instead channeling the metaphor by harnessing our passion and drive to stand up for not just ourselves, but for those who deserve being protected, uplifted, and respected. This can be a battle cry to make progress out of the ruins of the past.

The apropos Venus-Uranus square begs we do indeed progress in the name of gender equality, justice, and pride. The wrongs and ills of past and current societal conditioning deserve to be exposed and ameliorated so that we develop clear moral and ethical principles upon which we can all stand strong and proudly. This aspect, coupled with the Full Moon, is sure to pack a healthy dose of righteousness for us all if we are open to accepting it.

*Moon in Aries opposite Mars in Libra
Moon in Aries trine Venus in Leo
Mercury in Virgo trine Uranus in Taurus
Moon conjunct its North Node in Aries

Carrying yesterday’s luggage through today’s train station may not feel much different since the same characters seem to be milling about the platforms waiting for the right train. What are we integrating from yesterday’s Full Moon? Have we recognized a drive for justice? Do we feel the pull towards progress in the name of justice? Perhaps we are simply feeling ready to not back down to anyone who gets in the way of our individuation process. This can be challenging, especially if those people are close to us. But we have to ask ourselves what is more important in the long run. And how healthy will that relationship be if we do not stand up for our individuality and personal freedoms?

Our egos and passions can certainly be flared today, stoking the potential for clashes with loved ones. It may be best to channel the fans of those flames into very absorbing creative projects. Much can be had from harnessing the passionate flames of our freedom into the spirit of creative manifestation. The rewards that come from putting forth our energy and our emotional expressions into something tangible can be incredible.

This pursuit of something creative to occupy our time can utilize the sharp mindedness that comes from today’s Mercury-Uranus trine, heightening our mental faculties and allowing our capacity for focus and inspiration to shine through beautifully. Moon’s transit across its North Node can also bring subtle, or not-so-subtle, hints about how we are focusing on our path forward in life, as opposed to always looking back and dwelling on matters that are no longer helpful to dwell upon. We must adhere to the destination in which we are heading if we are to make the kind of progress we hope to make.

Ah, the goats of ambition surround us and jump to and fro today, teaching us how to seek the peaks of our inner mountain ranges. The body and mind strive to coalesce into some version of ourselves we have sought to manifest all these years. What greatness we are all becoming! Yet, how far have we already come? How far have we yet to go? Is it all worth the hullabaloo? When it comes to designing and arranging our daily routines and practices into methods that generate a sense of accomplishment and personal satisfaction, it is most certainly worth all the hullabaloo in the world.

The week is full of opportunities to forge ahead, especially as we lead up to the Full Moon on Friday in Aries. Oftentimes our progress and productivity is thwarted by emotional turbulence, particularly in relationships, so taking advantage of the Aquarius Moon to be able to step back from it all and refocus our sights on the goals and visions that matter most to us will help facilitate the growth and alignments we are looking for. May this Full Moon spark the finest passions we have and ignite them to blossom into our dreams coming true!
